Echomatrix
2020
For this project I wanted to created something completely different than anything I've done before. I was inspired to fully embrace synth/electronic sounds to create a soundtrack for the distant future. I borrowed from several electronic and art genres such as Cyberpunk, Synthwave, Drum & Bass, Dubstep and House. However they are a stylized reimagination of those genres, in order to blend them into a musical narrative or soundtrack. As such there is a strong SciFi influence in terms of the concepts depicted.
Dark Woods
2017
In this album, I wanted to explore a new ominous, eerie and gothic sound and keep the instrumentation more consistent throughout album. In this sense, Dark Woods is much more unified than previous efforts. All 5 songs inhabit the same sonic world, although they still have great musical variety. In the summer of 2020, I revisited this album to make improvements to the sound/mix/recordings to give this album the professional sound it deserves!
Derelict World
2017
The writing and recording process for the follow up to 2013’s Ascension began around the time I began attending Brandon University later that same year. Due to the workload associated with University, progress on the album was slower than previous albums. By early 2016 it was evident that the collection of tracks that had been recorded didn’t all quite fit with each other musically. This is when I decided to split the existing tracks between two separate albums: Derelict World and Dark Woods. Derelict World draws from Science fiction ideas and Norse Mythology, seamlessly blending them together. In the summer of 2020, I revisited this album to make improvements to the sound/mix/recordings to give this album the professional sound it deserves!
Ascension​
2013
Ascension is a nine-track, 71 minute mix of energetic, adventurous progressive rock composed and performed by Yanik Fillion Murphy. My goal with this album was to create a flow of musical ideas that would prompt listeners to set aside their perceived notions of the world and let the waves of sound inspire visual images of faraway places. Encouraging the listener to approach this musical journey with a receptive mind and a sense of humour. One could speculate that in this faraway world perhaps anything may be possible, even flying by hat across the surface of a strange planet guided by the light from many suns and a Krimson moon.

Storm odyssey

Storm Odyssey is a 9 track, 72 minute compilation of symphonic progressive rock music composed and performed by Yanik Fillion Murphy. All nine compositions on this album feature sweeping melodic lines, strong rhythmic beats and rich orchestration.
