Short Bio

Yanik Fillion-Murphy is Canadian composer and pianist. Performances of note have taken place Brandon University New Music Festival, the Winnipeg New Music Festival, Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music and Dance’s CoLab festival in Londer, Eng. In 2019, his string quartet received 2nd mention in the International Composition Competition for String Quartet “Nuestra América”, this composition was performed and recorded by the José White String Quartet in 2020. Yanik won the Brandon University concerto competition in 2016 and was invited to perform André Mathieu's Concerto no.4 with the BU Orchestra (spring 2017). One of Yanik’s strongest passions is recording music. He has released 5 CDs consisting entirely of original instrumental music from diverse musical styles. The most recent Echomatrix (2020) explores cyberpunk and synthwave styles. Others explore progressive rock, jazz, symphonic metal and electronic music such as Derelict World (2017) and Dark Woods (2017).
